Tribes Restaurant Review Glasthule Dublin

I wanted to review a restaurant from a chefs point of view and show you the sort of things that I think when I walk in to a restaurant and eat the food. The first victim for one of my reviews was Tribes in Glasthule. It’s a lovely little foodie corner of Dublin and the restaurant is nestled in beside Cavistons and lots of little fruit and beg shops and butchers and was packed even on a Monday night in the depths of winter. Rather than Waffle through what everybody had I thought I would take 3 pictures and talk you through the food as I saw it from a chef’s perspective…
The Starter
Wherever you go in Ireland ou seem to find Goat’s cheese on the menu and no different here. It can get a little repetitive but I always like to give it a try and see what the chef has up his sleeve. Great flavors, lovely soft textures and left me licking the plate wanting more but the presentation was in my mind a little sloppy and simplistic.
The Mains
Presentation on the fish dish was as you can see stunning and by all accounts was delicious and light and just the right portion size. I think that is one thing they get right here in Tribes as nobody left bloated by nobody was left hungry either.

That lovely hunk of meat was a pork belly that had been carefully rolled and was served with Jus, Apple puree and some slightly cold mash (more luke warm than cold but that is just me being picky). The pork was devine and cooked to perfection and worked well with the simple flavors on the plate. A real treat of a main course.

Desserts
They were really stunning simple and elegant desserts. The one pictures below is a lovely rhubarb crumble with Vanilla ice cream which was perfect, unfussy and exactly the way you want to finish off a meal.

Overall
At about 30 quid a head with a couple of cokes and some sparkling water it was great value and Tribes is a great little find with super friendly staff and excellent comfort food that is cooked by a chef that caelrly knows how to find good simple flavors and not over complicate the food. Well worth a trip out by the seaside.
